I have been involved with education for over 43 years, as a secondary Science teacher, Head of Department, Deputy Principal and Principal and finally as a Principals’ advisor.
I have witnessed many changes in the NZ Education sector over this time and have been involved with the implementation of these changes at the senior management level and Boards of Trustees. During my 10 years as Principal, I was involved in establishing an International students’ program and worked closely with Canterbury International College as they developed their study pathways.
After I resigned as principal, I became more involved with CANIC’s international marketing and visited China on a number of occasions for trade fairs, school visits and presentation of seminars to parents.
I am passionate about International education as I believe it is very important for local students to understand and accept other cultures. It is only through such exchanges that young people can meet and interact with each other in a truly international spirit and create lasting friendships.
Now as Principal of CANIC, I am part of an exciting venture to bring more International students to Christchurch to study, and to give them an opportunity to achieve their dreams in our wonderful country.
